Equilibrium under moment of forces
A body is said to be in equilibrium when the resultant moment on the body is zero.
The resultant force and acceleration are also zero. Then the body does not rotate or move.
Moment of a body in Equilibrium
The Principle of Moments
It states that the sum of the clockwise turning moments acting upon a body at any point equal the sum of the anticlockwise turning moment about the same point, provided that the body is in equilibrium.
Mathematically,
FL clockwise= FL anticlockwise
