COUPLES
A couple (in Physics) is a system of two opposite ,parallel and equal forces not acting along the same line.
In fig 1 above
F1=F2
The turning moment of a couple is the product of one of the forces and the distance of line of action between the two forces.
Example of couple is seen in turning of a water tap T valve ON or OFF. Equal but opposite force is applied to either side of the tap valve.
